WEEK OF JANUARY 29

1/27/2018

THIS WEEK'S HOMEWORK
This week's homework is on note/rest values and working out how many beats are in each measure.  Please wait until after we talk about it in class before you attempt it.  Due: Thursday, 2/1.

PETER AND THE STARCATCHER FIELD TRIP
There are still a LARGE number of people who need to turn in the permission form and the payment for our field trip.  I will be discussing in person with you.

THE TRIP IS NEXT WEEK!  Please make sure you have dialogued with all your teachers to make sure you won't be missing something critical.

Can you help us crowdfund for the event?  Send this link to your friends and family:  https://www.youcaring.com/lincolntheatreandlincolnchoirstudents-1035096/donate/general?utm_source=widget#wp

TOUR: NEXT STEPS
We're off to a great start for our tour performance!  If you're going, make sure you've already signed up for the Remind notifications (text @lharmonics to 81010).

Note:  There is an all-traveler meeting at LUNCH on Tuesday, beginning at 12:10 SHARP in my classroom.  I will hand out and explain the tour forms as well as make sure the rooming lists are correct.  Make sure you are there.

DEBTS
It's a scary number, folks: choir students owe a whopping $21,079.94...AND THAT DOES NOT INCLUDE PETER AND THE STARCATCHER.  Most of that is for tour ($15622.79) but there is still $5,457.15 owed by everyone else.  Yikes.

Debts must be paid by April 15.  After that date, you will be put on the school deficiency list.

Please take advantage of the next announcement to help yourself out
.

"SING" RAFFLE BASKETS
The ultimate fundraiser!  Bring items for the raffle baskets that we'll have at our "Sing" concerts.  We are especially seeking big-ticket items: tickets for events, hotel or cabin stays, or gift cards.
You'll get a share of the raffle proceeds for the event, based on the number of items you donate.

The obvious is to bring in items that you/your family got for the holidays that you KNOW you'll never use.  As an example: if your family received a gift card for a steakhouse and you're vegetarian, or if you got a blender and you never use the one you already have.  All items have to be brand-new.

I'm seeking parent volunteers to assemble the baskets for us.  If your parent is a raffle expert and can help us with that, please let them know and have them sign up to be a basket coordinator!

Start signing up now!  All the details are on this page:
http://www.signupgenius.com/go/20f0e49aba82faa8-2018

The class with the biggest average of donations will get a PIZZA PARTY; the class with the 2nd biggest gets donuts.  We will divide the number of donations by the number of students, so all classes regardless of size have an even playing field.  So, get signed up!  Items are due in just two weeks!

LISTENING PEER EDIT MAKEUP
If you were not here on Friday, the makeup peer edit will be this Wednesday at lunch.  We will begin at 12:10 sharp.  Please be prompt.

Missing a listening?  Catch up by listening to all examples on the listening page.  Click here to go there now.

This one has a FAST turnaround.  If you are interested (and motivated) to sell See's Candy, pick up a brochure on Monday.  Orders are due THIS FRIDAY!

Missing a listening?  Catch up by listening to all examples on the listening page.  Click here to go there now.

Remember: at this point in the semester, not doing just *one* assignment can result in an "F" grade.  Make sure you're keeping up with your work, but don't be too alarmed if you have a low grade to begin with.  As the semester goes by, your grade will go up!
