•Favorite song(s) sung this year
•A little biographical information, i.e. year in school, what student enjoys doing, hobbies, etc...
•A little "yearbook"-type message
•Student signature and date
•AND...ANYTHING ELSE that you wish that will make
the page unmistakably yours: collage, poem, drawings, stickers...whatever you want!

You can design it all online and print it out if you wish, or you can use the old-fashioned technique of glue and scissors.  There will be some free supplies for you to use if you wish, or you can provide your own paper/supplies.

You will have all period to work on it during your class block period on Tuesday/Wednesday. Due: Thursday, May 30 (ALL CLASSES)

HARRY POTTER ADVISORY
In my attempt to teach students to love to read, we will be reading (as a group) the first of the Harry Potter series, "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone" during advisory on Tuesdays.  If you want to strengthen your reading (or just want to read along with us), please bring your copy of the book and join us.

If you're in favor of this cause and want to support us, I would like a few copies of the book to have on hand.  Given the current craze of house cleaning and purging, it might be available from a thrift store for those who have the time to check!  Please send your book donations to my classroom.  Thank you for supporting this important goal.

BELLS ON WEDNESDAYS!
The response to our piece for bells and choir at the Winter Concert was amazing!  We are going to start a bell-ringing group for those interested.  For now, we will practice on Wednesdays during advisory, to teach everyone the basics and to figure out who is interested.  From there, I will split you into groups if there are more than 12 people interested.  No experience is required!  We will start this week.

REAL GROUP RAFFLE
Interested in seeing the Real Group on February 25?  Buy a $1 ticket (or 6 for $5) for a special student raffle for a pair of tickets!

WELCOME BACK!
I hope you had a wonderful week off and have come ready to work—Pancake Breakfast in just two weeks!

THIS WEEK @ LINCOLN
Because of testing this week on Wednesday, we will not have block days/advisory this week.

BINDER INSERTS
Lots of student binders are getting misplaced! I've provided you with an insert for your binder spine which you can insert or tape onto your binder so we can return it to your cubby when it is misplaced.  In some cases, I re-assigned your binder.  If that was the case, I'll let you know on Monday.

PANCAKE BREAKFAST
The performance schedule will come out later this week.  In the meantime, please make sure your parents are signed up to volunteer and/or donate!

MATTRESS FUNDRAISER
You were TERRIFIC!  Thank you so much for helping us build the audience for our 3rd Annual Fundraiser!  We'll know the results when we return from the break—fingers crossed for a good turnout!

For those of you who attended, look for an email confirming your community service.

GRADES
IC has been problemmatic all weekend long and I am still entering grades.  We'll go over them in class.  There is still time to fix things that are erroneous.

CLASSMARKER.COM
This week's homework is on the first of our Music HIstory units: Medieval and Renaissance periods.  Look for the presentation on Tuesday/Wednesday; the open-note quiz will be on Friday (not Thursday).

Note that as a result of the quiz being on Friday, we will do listening on Thursday.

REAL MEN SING: CANCELLED
For a number of reasons, we will not be participating this year.

NYC TOUR
Those going to New York: your first non-refundable payment of $100 (payable to Lincoln High School) is payable on or before Sept. 25 to secure your spot—that's Tuesday!  You can pay by PayPal if you wish: use the option to send money to lincolnhsmusicboosters@gmail.com.

There are no other tour plans at this time.

QUIZZES
Missing a quiz?  Quizzes may be made up on block days (Tuesdays/Wednesdays) at brunch, advisory or lunch.

ADVISORY
Advisory in Room 91 is a silent study hall.  You are more than welcome to hang out with me, but you will be expected to work quietly the whole time.  No headphones unless they are work-related and absolutely no gaming!

LET'S DECORATE!
On Friday, we will transform Room 91 into a Halloween-Dia de los Muertos celebration!  If you'd like to help, we'll play spooooooky music and get the room ready for October.  Community service and cookies for all!  Let me know if you're interested (3:30-5:30 pm).
