Week of October 22

10/21/2018

PANCAKE BREAKFAST: IN THE BOOKS!
I am SO PLEASED with your spectacular work at the Pancake Breakfast!  Every group performed beautifully.  You were polite and kind and I am grateful!  Grades will be updated early this week to reflect your performance.

I LOVED the kind gifts and cards that you shared with me for my birthday!  I was very touched by your generosity.  Thank you so very much for all the great wishes—I really appreciate them!

MUSIC TURN-IN
Now that the Breakfast is over, it's time to turn in the music we just performed.  Please make sure all pencil markings that are NON-MUSIC-RELATED have been erased.  Solfege and music markings (such as "No Breath" or translations) can stay.   We will turn music in on Monday.  If music has been lost, marked in pen or damaged to prevent future use, you will be charged $5 per piece.

PERFORMING ARTS DAY
Do you know an 8th grader who would be a good addition to our school?  Have them check out Performing Arts Day next Friday, November 2.  Many of you attended when you were 8th graders—make sure you get the word out for us!

CHORAL UNION OUTFIT CHECK
Make sure you remember to bring your outfit. After we turn in music on Monday, you will put on your outfit and I will check everyone one more time for fit.  I am sorry we didn't get our real outfits on time but we will make everything right.

HALLOWEEN FESTIVITIES
It is Halloween next week.  Wear a costume on Wednesday and get 10 XCR points! Per. 2/4/6, you'll have to stop in to show me as we will not have class that day.

CHOIR STICKERS
Our choir sticker in and it's awesome!  Bring $2 to get yours.

THIS WEEK'S HOMEWORK
The first of our music history unit starts this week: the history of the Medieval and Renaissance periods.  Make sure you have your work completed by quiz day on Thursday.  Note: the quiz will be an open-note quiz.

BLOG PEER EDIT MAKEUP
Because of the Pancake Breakfast, the blog peer edit make-up from last week will be Monday, 10/22.  If you weren't here for class, please make sure your blog is ready to grade.

DIA DE LOS MUERTOS DISPLAY
If you would like to participate in the Room 91 Dia de los Muertos display, please bring your photo/artifact this week.  In respect for what is there, please do not touch anything on the display.  It will be left up until November 2.

NYC TOUR
Next payment due on or before October 31!  You can pay by PayPal if you wish: use the option to send money to lincolnhsmusicboosters@gmail.com.

Please plan to meet for a brief meeting directly following the October Music Booster meeting on October 18 for next steps and planning.

GRADE PROBLEMS
If something is wrong with your grade, please use this form to fix it:  www.tinyurl.com/gradefixes.  Be prepared to send proof if needed.  You will get an email back when it has been addressed.

The Unsung Hero is someone who has selflessly gone above and beyond to help, inspire and be a positive example.

This week's hero is Abel Ahumada, who sings in Men's Choir.  Abel is the quintessential team player—he tries hard and is so helpful to everyone around him!
