Week of September 10

9/9/2018

MATTRESS FUNDRAISER
How many flyers have you handed out?  Need more?  They're on top of the cubbies by the door.  Remember: someone you know personally is looking to replace a mattress!  Ask friends, work colleagues, church friends, doctors/dentists (and their assistants!)...find your person!

Group performance times are now set as follows:
10:30  Bellissima
11:30  Estetica
1:30   Women's Choir
2:30
   Choral Union
3:30  Men's Choir
4:00  Chamber Chorale

I went with the time that worked best for the whole department as well as by group.  Now that you know times, please try to adjust your schedules that day so that you can be there with your group.

Remember, the target for each of us is to sell one mattress to someone.  I've sold at LEAST one.  Can you say the same?  If not, start asking.

Here's a link to our Facebook event.  Forward it to everyone you know!  www.facebook.com/events/251131585690736

CLASSMARKER.COM
This week's homework is on note and rest values.  You will hear the presentation in class on Monday.  Homework will be available after school on Monday and must be completed before Thursday's quiz.

SEPTEMBER MUSIC BOOSTER MEETING
Our first Music Booster meeting approaches this week on Thursday, 9/13!  Please make sure your parent/guardian attends so they can hear about the latest happenings in our department.  There are SO many ways we need parent help; make sure they come to hear all about the ways they can lend us a hand!

Support the bands in their first performance of the year that night—a free concert beginning at 6:30 pm!  Buy a hamburger dinner right before as part of the band's first fundraiser!

LISTENING PEER EDIT
Our first listening peer edit will take place on Friday, 9/14.  We will listen to the last of the four pieces on Tuesday/Wednesday.  Be sure to have your paragraphs done for the four pieces we have listened to so far!

The listening rubric is on p. 2 of the handout you received earlier this year.  You can find it on the listening page here on my website.   Click here to go there now.

All week long, we will be looking at examples of paragraphs in class so that you know what I am expecting.  Make sure you are ready to go; makeups are only available for absences.

Remember, you are expected to do the assignment even if you miss class.  All examples are posted on the listening page here on my website.  Click here to go there now.

NYC TOUR
Those going to New York: your first non-refundable payment of $100 (payable to Lincoln High School) is payable on or before Sept. 25 to secure your spot.  You can pay by PayPal if you wish: use the option to send money to lincolnhsmusicboosters@gmail.com.

There are no other tour plans at this time.

GRADE PROBLEMS
If something is wrong with your grade, please use this form to fix it:  www.tinyurl.com/gradefixes.  Be prepared to send proof if needed.  You will get an email back when it has been addressed!

If you have already notified me of previous problems via email, no need to fill out the form.

The Unsung Hero is someone who has selflessly gone above and beyond to help, inspire and be a positive example.

This week's hero is Abel Ahumada, who sings in Men's Choir.  Abel constantly looks out for the rest of the men in the group, and is always trying his best to be helpful... with his fun sense of humor, he is truly indispensable!
